Jan Sawka was a Polish painter, sculptor, architect, and designer. Famous for his poster design, Sawka was able to combine abstract images and illustrations into posters with a message. He is also known for his stage design for the Grateful Dead, a band he worked with many times. Growing up in communist Poland, Sawka was anti-communist, which he showed throughout his works as a form of rebellion.
